Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to LITERAL: Disability Studies Journal undergo a rigorous and structured peer review process to ensure the quality and relevance of each published article.

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
All submissions are first evaluated by the editorial team to determine their alignment with the journal’s aims and scope. Manuscripts are assessed for academic quality, relevance, methodological rigor, language clarity, adherence to the journal's submission guidelines, and similarity level using Turnitin. The editorial team reserves the right to desk-reject manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements.

  2. Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to at least two independent and anonymous reviewers. LITERAL: Disability Studies Journal adopts a double-blind peer review policy, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to maintain objectivity.

  3. Reviewer Feedback and Author Revision
The reviewers provide critical assessments and recommendations regarding the manuscript’s content, structure, and scientific contribution. Feedback is sent to the corresponding author for necessary revisions. Authors are expected to respond constructively and submit the revised manuscript within 7 days for minor revisions.

  4. Editorial Board Decision
Once the revised manuscript is submitted, the editorial board conducts a final evaluation, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of the revision. Based on this evaluation, the manuscript may be accepted, returned for further revision, or rejected. The final decision will be communicated to the corresponding author by the Editor.

  5. Copyediting and Publication
Manuscripts accepted for publication will undergo copyediting and layout editing to ensure consistency, clarity, and formatting in accordance with the journal’s standards. The final version will then be published online and made accessible to the public.
